The Boston Contemporary Dance Festival was established in 2012 to celebrate the new and largely unknown art of contemporary dance. The festival, produced by Urbanity Dance, brings a diverse array of contemporary dance artists together from across the United States, inviting the greater Boston community to experience this art form at its finest. Participants and audience members are invited to meet and mingle with critics, producers, photographers, and leaders in the national dance community, all while exploring contemporary dance as a site of social change and progress.

Commemorating our fifth anniversary of bringing an inspired, eclectic range of contemporary dance voices to Boston, BCDF 2017 is arguably the most thrilling to date. Noteworthy companies such as Doug Varone & Dancers and Bryna Pascoe (former Hubbard Street) are intermixed with a diverse line-up of artists from all around the world and nation. The venue is my favorite location to date, The Stanford Calderwood Pavilion at the Boston Center for the Arts. I look forward to welcoming all of these extraordinary artists to our hometown, and see what magic unfolds
